Four-spotted Pennant

Description:

Adult male has dark reddish-blue eyes, blue thorax, abdomen and cerci. Females and immature males are reddish. Wings of both sexes show a white stigma; males have one dark blotch in the outer part of each wing, females show an orangish wash of color in these areas.

Habitat:

Ponds. A southern dragonfly that is expanding north. When present usually one of the most apparent as it perches at the top of any nearby vegetation in or along the water.
