Gomphus hybridus

Description:

A brown clubtail with a large club. This color is unusual in clubtails. Yellow thorax with two middorsa. two nearly combined shoulder and two complete lateral brown stripes. Eyes are blue. Abdomen is mostly brown with with small yellow spots on S8 with the dorsal spot being large and the length of the whole segment. No markings on S9 on the dorsal surface. *Dragonflies and Damselflies of Georgia and the Southeast by Giff Beaton

Habitat:

Rivers and large streams with sandy bottoms.

Notes:

Perches on low vegetation or on the ground. Often approachable but because of color can blend in.
