Garter Snake

Thamnophis sirtalis

Description:

Another cute little snake! I was fascinated by his red tongue and the black tip of the tongue. "They secrete a lubricatating fluid between the new and old skin to aid in shedding...it will make the eyes cloudy for a few days, then the eyes clear and the snake sheds a few days later." --Lisa Powers
