Spider wasp

Pompilidae

Description:

These wasps typically have a slender body with long, spiny legs; the hind femur is often long enough to reach past the tip of the abdomen. The first two narrow segments of the abdomen characterize the slender look of their body. Pompilids’ bodies are often dark black or blue, sometimes with metallic reflections. These wasps are solitary; most capture and paralyze their prey.
