Carolina Grasshopper

Dissosteira carolina

Description:

About an inch and a half long, half inch wide. All brown in color, it's wings are black with yellow in the back edges.

Habitat:

Grassland Alberta. Found him hoppin along my front lawn.

Notes:

This is the first hopper I've seen that its eyes are not black. A friend mentioned it might be molting or shedding. I'm not sure either way.
