A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
A striking little Picture Wing Fly, 5 mm in length, with an all black body and orange legs and head. The wings are heavily patterned in black. The wing venation fits the Family Ulidiidae (formerly Otitidae). These flies usually feed on vegetation or detritus as larvae.
Found under a light at night, semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico 2,200 meters.
