Red-tailed Hawk

Buteo jamaicensis

Description:

Sitting on the Tele cable near Yosemite Ave

Habitat:

Ca central valley

Notes:

I thought that he could not be a Red Tailed as his tail when viewed from above in flight is stripped not RED. but thanks to you project Noah rangers I learned something new.... juvies do not have the red tail. Red tail Hawks are the most common hawk seen in my area and I always struggled with IDing the others.... now i know most of the others were just young RTs... thanks

This is a juvenile red-tailed hawk as AshleyT has suggested! They do not get their classic rusty tail until they are a year old! Gorgeous bird and excellent shots!
