Umbilicaria cylindrica
Foliose lichen. The thallus is attached at central point, and is divided into multiple lobes.The colour is grey to brownish-grey above, lacking isidia. The lower surface is pale brown, with variable complement of often flattened, pale rhizinomorphs (non-attaching rhizines). The margins are lobular with variable development of fringing, grey-brown cilia. Apothecia are black, somewhat raised, discs with multiply infolded margins (gyrose).
Common on exposed rocks and boulders. Spotted on a siliceous rock at 1500 meters high in a pine tree (Pinus sylvestris) forest at Sierra de Guadarrama.
