Spur Throated Grasshopper

Melanoplus ponderosus

Description:

About 2 inches long. Striping on outside of legs. When it jumps it uses it's wings for added distance.

Habitat:

Grassy field in Eaton, Ohio.

Notes:

Found around noon on a sunny day. It was about 70 F outside. When I found it it was sitting in the grass but easily climbed onto my hand for pictures.
