Canada Goose

Branta canadensis

Description:

"Stripe was checking a plane."

Notes:

This 4.5 month old Goose hatched the 1st or 2nd week of May across the street from my home. I sat with his family most mornings and many nights while he grew up. When his adult feathers came in, his distinctive forehead stripe manifested itself. Over the last few weeks it has diminished slightly. He is one of five goslings. Of his parents, only the father is banded (1008-92652). By reporting the number I learned the father was banded about 10 miles from here (southeastern Virginia, USA) in 2007 and determined to be a male.
