Northern saw-whet owl

Aegolius acadicus

Description:

One of the smallest owls in North America. This one was not being very cooperative for taking pictures. Hiding in a dense cedar tree and still sleeping. They hunt for prey at night using their excellent hearing and vision.

Habitat:

Spotted at the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge.
