Eastern Glass Lizard

Ophisaurus ventralis

Description:

Found in a pesticide free neighborhood yard with very uncut grass.

Habitat:

Southeastern United States in meadows, grasslands, (hammocks of Southern Florida, and pine flatwoods.

Notes:

One of a large family of Eastern Glass Lizards present in this yard. I have seen as many as 4 at one time at this location. Due to the pesticide free zone, areas of tall grass, and compost heap, there is plenty of food present for this species. This is not really a snake. I posted "snake" as a tag in case someone is looking for it.
