Description:

5-6 millimeters in body length; colored black and ivory as shown. All-white face indicates a male.

Habitat:

Perching on a guardrail in a forested area with Ponderosa Pine dominating. Beaver pond nearby with willow.

Notes:

These bees are also known as "masked bees." They can easily be misidentified as small wasps; females are solitary and nest in hollow twigs.
