Predatory Stink Bug

Podisus brevispinus

Description:

Stink bug with brown, olive, and orange coloration. It was approximately 11mm long.

Habitat:

Spotted during a solar eclipse in a rural herb garden - I think on lavender (Lavandula).

Notes:

Unlike other species of stink bugs, predatory stink bugs (as their common name implies), feed on other insects. Their prey include slow-moving, soft-bodied insects, especially larvae.
