White apple leafhopper

Typhlocyba pomaria

Description:

The white apple leafhopper attacks apple, cherry and prune but has also been found on peach and hawthorn. It does not usually damage pear, although the rose leafhopper has been noted in sizable numbers on this crop.

Habitat:

The white apple leafhopper is the most common leafhopper found on apple in the Pacific Northwest. Until it became a pest of significance in Washington in the mid-1970s, specific control measures were rarely needed.
