Description:

Dark small rodent that is pretty skiddish. It would come out of the tall grass momentarily to feed under the live oak trees and grass then bolt back to the tall grass for cover.

Habitat:

Fields, grass, prairies, woods

Notes:

Spotted over a dozen at Tall Timbers Research Station near Tallahassee, FL.
