You don't have to worry much about the mites. They probaly aren't parasites, just passengers.
Taking the beetle as a hike (unquestioned) to the next favourable dead wood habitat, where they may feed on fungi,or stuff.

I have tried to do that long time ago, @MrsPbio but it was hardly possible as those mites are very tiny and they hang on very tightly! ha ha

If I had found it, I would've probably taken it home and picked off all the mites. Poor thing. I'm such a softie! lol (And yes, I've been known to do things like that...hah!)
