Eastern Gray Squirrel

Description:

Light underbelly, grizzled gray above, these arboreal squirrels are common in our area.

Habitat:

Forested areas, but are very common in many suburban and even urban areas, including parks and residential areas.

Notes:

The squirrels in our area are getting ready for winter. They are storing nuts and growing thicker fur. That's good as it is going to get cold tonight and it looks like it is going to remain cold now through the fall. One squirrel, however, is storing away our landscaping stones. It's going to be a long, hungry winter for him....
