Description:

The roots on this tree looked very much like an American Beech. The trunk was about 14 inches in diameter and the tree was about 80 - 90 feet tall.

Habitat:

Odd tree in a mixed stand of Hemlocks and hardwoods in the Blue Ridge Mountains about 2,500 elevation in North Georgia.
