Description:

Stiffly upright perennial with stems growing from large round corm. Flowers congested on long, slender, terminal spike. Flowers open from top of spike down.

Habitat:

Meadow by Lake Lewisville.

Notes:

The corms of various Liatris species have been employed in treating sore throat and rattlesnake bite, the latter usage giving this plant the common name Button Snakeroot.
