Springbok

Antidorcas marsupialis

Description:

Bright cinnamon-brown upperparts, bright white underparts, with a chocolate brown stripe along the flanks. White on the face and muzzle, with a red-brown stripe running through the eyes to the corner of the mouth. The rum is white, the tail is thin, white near the base with a tuft of dark hair at the tip.(Smithers' mammals of southern africa a field guide. fourth edition)

Habitat:

Arid and semi-arid desert scrub and grassland.

Notes:

I saw plenty of springboks in Namibia, but they are shy and jump a lot, so I wasn't able to take many photographs of them. These roamed in the lodges park, I think they had been injured as none had the normal lyre horns

no, that are not that common here anymore, you will only see them in reserves that keep them. As far as I know the Kruger National Park doesn't really have many.
