Tamias striatus
Reddish-brown fur on its upper body and five dark brown stripes, which contrasted with light brown stripes along its back, ending in a dark tail. It had lighter fur on the lower part of its body, and a tawny stripe that ran from its whiskers to below its ears with lighter stripes over and under its eyes.
Spotted in a deciduous forest. They are probably the only mammals that aren't scared away by my kids!
The common name "chipmunk" comes from an Ottawa word, "ajidamoonh", which means "one who descends trees headlong".

@Jellis, I don't have any other images of this chipmunk - they may be curious, but they don't stay still for long. It ran off right after I got this shot.
do you have any images from the side?
Thanks everyone. They are cute, curious little creatures...and, they have been super busy lately - collecting the abundance of acorns on the ground this autumn. Lately, every time I go into the woods, I can hear their chatter and observe their inquisitive, bold behaviors!
Perfection, Christine! *squooshes its cheeks*
A beautiful and cute chipmunk....A beautiful photo....
Oh wow! What a brilliant image of this gorgeous little creature. Thank you for sharing this Christine.
