Wahlenbergia marginata
The basal leaves were fuzzy and the stalk was pretty much leaf-free.
Growing in the middle of the walking path in the UCF Arboretum
W. marginata is the only species that occurs anywhere in central Florida so this must be it.
Looks like a Wahlenbergia sp.
