Notes:

The spiny orb weaver is also known as the crab-like weaver and the spiny-backed orb weaver. They are not aggressive spiders. They do not bite unless provoked and are not known to cause serious symptoms if they do bite someone. They look kind of like a spiky rock. Males are mostly black, while females are brightly colored. It lives all over the world. They are mostly found outside and they rarely weave their webs in houses.This one was found outside of South Louisiana Community College on November 13, 2017. They eat small insets. They only live for about a year.They make an egg sac in the summer or fall that contains from 100-260 eggs, which hatches in about 12 days.
