Hi Kim! Great shot! Mantids are one of my favorite insects! I think this is a different species than Sphodromantis baccettii(an African species). I don't think that species occurs in North America.
Do you have any more views of this lovely creature? I think this might be a Carolina Mantis, Stagmomantis carolina, but I don't want to jump the gun without seeing the whole body.
