Himalayan Blue Bamboo

Borinda boliana

Description:

Slim, reed-like; it is a bamboo species after all. But what is surprising is its colour...a sort of very elegant ashy blue.

Habitat:

Neora Valley Jungle Camp. Village Kolakham; a remote, forested area at an altitude of 1868m in the Kalimpong Hills of Darjeeling District, on the fringes of Neora Valley National Park.

Notes:

According to the blog Nandanvan (cited) this bamboo can be spotted around Darjeeling region. The place I spotted it is close enough. Synonym: Himalayacalamus intermedius.
