North American Beaver

Castor canadensis

Description:

A got a better look at the beaver I spotted previously (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/158...) at this pond, catching it on a cold day swimming in icy water. Beavers slap their tails on the water as a warning when they feel threatened - I didn't get to see it do that, but you can see that tail is poised and ready to let me know I'm getting too close.

Notes:

Spotted at a wooded detention/retention pond in an office building complex in Kennesaw, GA
