Banksia marginata
A variable species, growing as a prostrate shrub in exposed coastal areas to a 7m tall tree in more sheltered habitats. Seed is formed in large woody cones, many species require regular fire to open the woody cones and allow seed germination. Member of the Proteacaea (related to Grevillea).
