Horned Coreid Bug

Cletus trigonus

Description:

About 1-1.5cm in length. There are three small white dots on its back. Cletus trigonus (Thunberg, 1783). The images I found on the net/blogsites identified the common name as Slender Rice Bug, however, this common name also refers to another bug, Leptocorisa sp., with a real slender body (http://sinobug.aminus3.com/image/2012-01...). Classification: Hemiptera (Order) > Heteroptera (Suborder) > Coreidae (Family) > Coreinae (Subfamily) > Gonocerini (Tribe) > Cletus (Genus). Distribution includes the Philippines: http://coreoidea.speciesfile.org/Common/....

Habitat:

Backyard, in Biñan Laguna, Philippines.
