Banana-stalk Fly

Telostylus sp.

Description:

About 1cm in length. Lovely orange color that caught my attention. I did not get any 2nd shot or a clearer shot. It was so quick, it just leapt / flew away after I clicked my one and only shot. Nov 9, 2012: Finally found a matching genus - Telostylus sp., Family Neriidae. Family Neriidae species are known as cactus flies, or banana stalk flies. From http://zipcodezoo.com/Key/Animalia/Telos... 5 species in the Genus Telostylus were mentioned to be distributed in the Philippines: T. binotatus · T. maccus · T. niger · T. philippinensis · T. vittatus.

Habitat:

Spotted at a Langka (Jackfruit) tree in the backyard.
