Green Iguana

Iguana iguana

Description:

This orange, blue, yellow and black monster was free-roaming in the forest and walkways of the Zoomat Park above Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, Mexico. He was about 3 meters long from nose to tail.

Notes:

He was nervous because he was between my camera and a fence. I tried to get close to his face with my camera and he zapped my hand with the tip of his tail with perfect precision. It was strong enough to make a bruise and I was very impressed with how lethal he could be with just his tail - just like Godzilla.

My son had an iguana as a pet for 4 years and yes his tail is his weapon. You have taken excellent pictures.

Thank you Stian Waaler. You are right about him being the Green Iguana. Mexican populations are supposed to be more orange in color and have little horns on the nose between the eyes, which he does.

He's beautiful!
