Description:

It is a small butterfly in the family nymphalidae. The butterfly has black wings with orange markings. The border of the wings have white and grey. The wingspan is about 39 mm long. It also has yellow colors closer to the abdomen.

Habitat:

Semi-urban, Fort Worth, Texas.

Notes:

It is found in all parts of the United States except the west coast, and throughout Mexico and parts of southern Canada, in particular Ontario. This one was a female with a dark form.
