It is fascinating that the bee is sleeping like that. I see he is holding on with his mandibles, like the Orchid bees do, although those are not suspended in mid-air. It really seems like an excessive stress on his mandibles and he is also very exposed. Very peculiar.
@ Lauren ... this cuckoo bees are homeless bees... meaning these bees do not build webs ...and also are Kleptoparasites .so this is a resting position of the bee :) here is an informative blog http://davidavid.blogspot.in/2006/07/mor...

I just researched for cuckoo bees and wiki says they are called so because "The term cuckoo bee is used for a variety of different bee lineages which have evolved the kleptoparasitic habit of laying their eggs in the nests of other bees, reminiscent of the behavior of cuckoo birds."
