Northern Curlytail Lizard

Leiocephalus carinatus

Habitat:

Sandy, sunny areas with loose rubble and rock. Native to Bahamas, Cayman Islands, and Cuba. Intentionally released in Florida in the 1940's.

Notes:

This stocky lizards are very quick to scurry away. This one was photographed at my school's parking lot. I've seen them in other sandy, near beach locations.
