Nymph - goliath stick insect

Description:

This large slim stick insect is one of the largest in Australia, although not yet full sized. This is the penultimate stage and has one molt to go. You can see her prowings (wing buds) in pic #4 and how the fore legs are sculpted to fit around her head when stretched out in pic #5. A master (mistress, in this case) of disguise.

Habitat:

Feeds on acacia and eucalyptus. This insect is captive grown.

Notes:

The adult insect is bright green and yellow striped, with large wings.

Very cool anatomical notations. I think the walking stick face was the model for the alien Predator creature in the Predator Movies.
