Cataulacus latissimus
A black ant about 5mm in length. Broad head, thorax with spikes poking out behind, almost round abdomen. Not fast moving. Cataulacus latissimus is the best match so far out of the 6 Cataulacus species recorded in Borneo.
Certain area in Sabah Tea Garden, near Ranau town, Sabah.
This ant is not common back in my town and possibly this is the first time I have seen this. >>>Map accuracy : 400m diameter.

Thank you tibiprada, ArgyBee and Leuba.
What a great-looking ant ! I like the spiky bits from his thorax. Nice spotting Chun.
Nice stout ant.
