Combleaf Yellow False Foxglove

Aureolaria pectinata

Description:

Yellow flowers whose buds are hairy and tipped with red until they open. The leaves are deeply lobed and tinged with purple. I often see caterpillars on them (I think they are Common Buckeye caterpillars)

Habitat:

Fire-suppressed longleaf pine sandhill savanna after lots of rain
