Shield-backed Katydid nymph

Description:

Immature but large insect. It was tan and brown with a pronounced shield-like thorax. The top of the throax is light and fairly flat with the sides being darker. There are black stripes just above the eyes. The legs were very long with the femur as long as the body. The antenna are even longer than the body.

Habitat:

Grassland mixed with chaparral
