Drumming Katydid, male

Meconema thalassinum

Description:

Smaller sized Katydid. Bright green with yellow on legs, antennae and dorsally. Brown on top of wings and small amount on thorax. This species of Katydid does not sing, but instead depends on vibrations on the ground. Reported to be an introduced species from Europe.

Habitat:

Four Mile Creek State Park, New York. Campground. Found on our tent.
