Description:

About 30 millimeters in length, shaped and colored as shown.

Habitat:

Found on the trunk of a tree (mesquite?) in a Sonoran Desert grassland habitat.

Notes:

I expected this large beetle to be very wary, but it allowed me to approach closely.
