Dromaius novaehollandiae

Description:

This bird is about as tall as the average human, or about 6 ft. tall or 182 cm. they have large feet that have large claws they use as defense. the head has a blue color and brown eyes with black hair on top of the head. the body is covered in all feathers even though it is a flightless bird. this bird is the 2nd largest flightless bird in the world. when the female bird is calling to her mate she uses her vocal cords to produce a beat box like noice sounding like a bass drum.

Habitat:

their natural habit is mild temp. but can stand a cold temperate climate. they like to live in tall grassy/wooded areas but not closed in forests.

Notes:

this emu was actually a pet for an owner of exotic pets in the middle of chapel hill's thick woods. i learned a lot about these amazing creatures and was able to interact with them in their environment.
