Cynoglossum amabile
Bright turquoise blue flowers that bloom in December and January, native of Chiapas at 2,200 meters. They only grow to about 12 inches in height.
Found especially along the drier upper edges of the wetlands.
Well @Lauren, there are so many introduced species here as well, you won't believe! I was even able to spot several species coming from my country, Greece (it makes me feel like home -sort of!)
Thank you Despina for your help with the identification of this flower. It has always been one of my favorite wildflowers and I am amazed that it is an introduced species. It seems to be part of our wild environment. It must be so much fun to live in New Zealand, I love your spottings.
I think it's a cynoglossum amabile...I know it doesnt make sense because it is considered an Asian species, but I managed to find some evidence from Mexico, wich proves that it was probably introduced there, escaped and naturalized...
