House sparrow (female)

Passer domesticus

Description:

The house sparrow is so common in the urban environment it is probably more often than not overlooked. I would like to highlight though, the incredible ability of species such as pigeons and sparrows to adapt to habitats so far removed from the natural environment. House sparrows show sexual dimorphism where the male has patches of dark brown and black, while the females sport different shades of grey and lighter brown.

Habitat:

Highly urbanized species. Found in all big cities around the world.
