Black Velvetwing

Dysphaea dimidiata

Description:

This damselfly is larger than most damselfly species. This male is 44 - 48 mm in length. The body and wings are black in color except for a small transparent patch near the tip of the wings. This species has a habit of spreading their it's wings open when resting, making it look like a dragonfly.

Habitat:

Around the river in Madai Waterfalls Forest Reserve Park (Pusat Sejadi Hutan Simpan Madai Baturong Kunak), Sabah.
