Description:

Large shrubs/small trees four to ten feet tall with thick, prominently veined leaves and clusters of flowers of several different colors.

Habitat:

Tropical montane bog.

Notes:

Spotted many individuals of this endemic Hawaiian hydrangea all along the Mt. Kaala trans-bog boardwalk. The undersides of their leaves were the habitat of several different mollusks, insects and arachnids.
