Signal Fly

Scholastes cinctus

Description:

Scholastes cinctus in the species of Diptera described by Guérin-Méneville last 1831. Scholastes cinctus belongs to the genus Scholastes and familia Platystomatidae.

Habitat:

Found resting on a coconut leaf, but I also usually find them among the plants.

Notes:

They have dark red eyes, white stripes on their head and abdomen and blacks stripes on their wings so I prefer to call them zebra flies.
