Golden Apple Snail Eggs

Pomacea canaliculata

Description:

According to Wikipedia, Pomacea canaliculata is a non-indigenous species in the Philippines where it uses "rice and taro as a substrate for reproduction".

Habitat:

Spotted on the stem of a Taro plant, growing in a tangle of weeds where our vegetable plot borders a rice field.

Notes:

The second photo above was taken on Aug 2 in terrible weather conditions and is of such poor quality that I initially decided not to upload it to Project Noah. The first photo above was taken on Aug 3 (today) when I had cut the plant stem and brought it out from the tangle of vegitation to get a better picture. When I read in Wikipedia's habitat section that the eggs are laid on rice or taro, I felt that I should include the second picture to show the leaf which identifies the plant as Taro.
