Description:

A genus of dicotyledonous plants of the Amaranth family. Includes over 250 species distributed in the temperate and tropical zones of both hemispheres. The largest number of economically significant species comes from the western and central states of the United States and the interior of Australia.

Habitat:

Family: Amaranths (Amaranthaceae) Fun fact: Quinoa is extremely tolerant of soil salt content.
