Unfortunately, this flying squirrel could not escape our house cat. It was quickly removed from the cat's mouth but its injuries were fatal.

How sad but a fact of life. I often am too late to rescue cicadas from my cats when they kamikaze into the nightlights. It is frustrating as sometimes I don't get to identify the species or photograph it. Small snakes and skinks often suffer this fate.
