Mantle Slug

Hilomycus sp.

Habitat:

Woodland habitat at Sauk Trail State Park. This was a very damp section of the timber bordering a lake.

Notes:

The slug was about 2 inches long on a dead maple tree.

Thanks for the ID Lisa. I was struggling with this one, and the only spotted slug for Illinois that I could find was the leopard slug. Thanks again.

I noticed that too mauna Kunzah, but not until I got the photos on my computer. I would have zoomed in on those had I noticed them in the field. Thanks for the comment:)

There looks to be an interesting fungus in the foreground (out of focus) of the 1st photo. :) Nice spotting.
